Poor Ben Plaque 40

Founded in 1903 by Frank and Albert Hardill, sugar boilers Lion Confectionery in Cleckheaton are Spen Valley's most notable sweet manufacturers. They have signature lines of pastilles and gums such as midget gems. After many trials they achieved a notable and popular success with Poor Bens, which were named after the man who first sampled them. The factory still produces sweets in 2014.
