Whitechapel Church Cleckheaton has its roots in Roman times, with a Norman font dated as not later than 1120. It was rebuilt in 1130-1150. It has been Catholic, Church of England & Non-Conformist in character. The building is Grade II Listed. Rose Ann Heslip, a neice of Patrick Bronte, is the only Bronte buried in Spen Valley. Her grave at Whitechapel was rediscovered in 2006.
